We didn’t make any plans for spring break this year, until the week before when I acknowledged my desire to go sit on some warm sand and put my feet into an ocean. Luckily my work schedule was light and my family was accommodating of my wants and needs, and so I took off three days from work and we went to the beach.
I submitted four poems to a journal today! My plan was to hem and haw about this for a few more weeks or months but I made myself not overthink it and just do it.

Last night’s Nine Inch Nails concert was one of the best shows I have ever been to! They played many of my favorites, and the lighting and stagecraft was absolutely outstanding.

Saturday night, we went to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to listen to Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition,’ which is one of Doc’s favorite classical pieces. He used to play it for Jamie all the time when he was little, so consequently it is also one of Jamie’s favorite pieces.
Project Kitchen continued this morning with some additional sanding of our cabinet doors.
I am very excited that our mostly-DIY kitchen remodel has begun. Our house was built in 1980, and it shows.
So I was thinking about layers the other day. Things on top of similar things, over and over and over, forming a pattern. All those little layers are bright and brilliant in their own right, and the whole means something else entirely, but you can’t see it until you step way back….
